We bought a tool to remove the old engine room insulation. It is just kind of a fancy paint scraper. It worked well but you still need a lot of elbow grease with it. The hard spots were under the sink are. It is also the glue that held the old insulation on that is troublesome. It's a hard place to get to and you do not get much leverage.
