Dorade vent hoses

Hmmm, replace the dorade vent hoses?
At least the section inside the engine room as they look crappy.
But they work so why replace them. Because they look crappy. But is that REALLY any reason to replace them, after all they are in the engine room where nobody sees them and work well.
Could we have an excuse to replace them because they have oil and dirt in them for the first few feet or so that sticks into the engine room. May cause oily smell? Then again we might be able to just clean them.
Hmmm, see what I am saying???
You can see it here, looks like dryer hose.
It comes out a lot more and stretches to under the engine.

We had a long spell of cold weather this last month and one day when we were down on the boat and in the engine room I grabbed a dorade vent hose to pull it out from where I had stuffed it. I could feel the cold air coming into the engine room from the dorade hose. The air in the boat was wormer than the air outside so I could really feel the difference. We had been wondering if they actually did anything. Well we now know for sure that they do. It was only about an eight knot wind and we were at the dock. Usually the air temperature is the same in the boat as outside when we are messing around and this was just different day. It is good to know they do work. I had though they maybe were for when you turn on the blower it would suck it in from the dorades, that could be true but air would most definitely come in to the engine room from the dorades while motoring.
