Behind the toilet cabinet door, water to oil varnish - 2011

The next or current varnishing home project is returning to the head behind the toilet cabinet door project. OK this sounds confusing but what it is the cabinet door has been varnished with water based varnish by me. I wanted to test the water base varnish verses the oil based varnish. I could have picked an easier subject 😊.

January 2011 -  At Marina Cortez Harbor IslandSan Diego, CA
This happened when we first started the varnishing over a year and a half ago. I am now just getting to the re-do of the door. You know how it goes, the door looked OK so why spend time on it when there were so many places that really needed clean up and varnish 😇. Well we like the oil based much better so that’s what we went with. I a banded the test after a few coats of water based varnish on the door. Now it is time to pay the price for my folly.
I am stripping the old water based varnish off the door and then will sand it clean and rinse with the stripes rinse product. Sanding again and final start the oil based varnishing.
We are at the striping stage now, (no pole) he he.
You can notice the bottom of the door is cut a bit short. That is so it will pass over the household size bowl on our VacuFlush toilet. The other piece is all varnished and ready to attach to the cabinet when this door is done. They are cut on a slant so when closed you will not see hardly and gap at all.
