Blew tire on bike

May 2013 Paradise Village Marina in Banderas Bay, Mexico

Debbie and I went out on a ride on our bikes. Debbie seat was sub par for any distance so she headed back. I forged on looking for the path to Bucerias when I tried jumping a curb, bad idea as I blew the front tire. These local bikes are still a work in progress. I thumbed as far back as I could and then grabbed a cab. I had no cash but the people are real nice so the cabbie waited for Debbie to come up and pay him as I had to go to the boat and get her, I am a bit disabled :)

We later picked up the bike in our FORD KA and went to the bike shop in

Picking up my bike.
Getting a new front tire and tube for my bike.

They tested both tubes and fixed my water bottle holder for free. The replaced the tube, tire and took the back tire off and tested the tube, it way fine but the tube had five patches on it but still holds air so here it is considered fine, which I agree. In the US they just automatically replace the tube, here nothing is wasted, it can be repaired or modified then that is the way it is done.

So we purchased a new bike seat and a basket for Debbie's bike! They also gave us a couple of screws for holding Debbie's water bottle on her bike. I got a new front tire and tube and the adjusted the kick stand on my bike also. We did not have Debbie s bike with us so we installed her basket and seat at the boat.

New 3/4" anchor locker drain

End of May 2014 PV Marina
OK as you can see the hole has been drilled.

Debbie then used a rasp to even out the
inside where the nut screws onto the through hull.

Debbie then cleaned the hole and area with acetone and coated the inside of the hole with 3M UV4000. Then she coated the through hole and I inserted it into the bow and Debbie went into the chain locker and back filled the hole again with 3M UV4000 and secured the nut. I held the through hull from moving at the bow. Nice to have the dock to work off of :)

All done with the lower chain locker drain!

The marina did give us a little grief about all our anchor chain on the dock. Said we should have put cardboard under it first...all in good time :)

IMSS - Physical therapy

May 24, 2014 Paradise Village Marina, PV

I have been going to physical therapy now for a week or so and with the exercises they have me doing and my bycycle and pool exercises there has been small improvement in my condition which even more importantly is giving me hope of a recovery!  I have ten sessios ofabout one hour each, each week day.
Today I also went to the IMSS clinic in Aramara by PV. I saw the nutritionist and he weighed me as happens each month. This time I lost another 2.2 kilo's which is about 4.5 lbs. Another 8 kilo's and I will be at my goal weight. I weighed about 220-225 when I started, now I weigh about 201 lbs.

IMSS facility in Mezcales, Mexico where I go for PT. This not far from the marina.

New 3/4" anchor locker drain

Paradise Village Marina in Beautiful Mexico! May 22 ,2014

Here we are finally replacing the 1/2 " anchor locker drain with a 90 deg elbow in it with a
3/4" drain without any elbow. This one continually clogs and is a constant pain while anchoring. It requires constant use of a plunger and a wire snake and even then sometimes it refuses to drain. The anchor locker will then back up with sea water while washing down the anchor chain while raising or cleaning the anchor chain. Then the water and crud comes down into the chain locker through the windless.

Tools of the trade :)

The original drain hole is the with a wood plug pounded in it and cut off. That way we could use a hole saw to cut a bigger hole in the anchor locker. Need the plug for the hole saw drill bit to center it and hold it in place.

Hole drilled out for new 3/4" white plastic through hull.

Original 1/2" through hull.

Here is one of the major problems with the original instalation. This is a 90 deg "T" that continually gets clogged while cleaning off the anchor chain up in the anchor locker.

With the hose removed from the anchor locker drain...this is the chain locker.
we will post more on this soon.

New used bikes

We picked up a couple of used bikes in PTL, a suburb PV. The bicycle is my defacto wheelchair. My condition is improving but slowly.
This blog entry I am writing using my new (re-furbished) Samsung Galexy Tab 3 8" tablet!

This was another bike shop in San Vicente we went to looking for bikes.

The wrapped bikes out front were new (and out of our price range).

Adding a luggage rack to my bike.

At Paradise Village Marina, PV

We now are currently in the marina until huricane season is over, except for some day sailing and a trip to the ship yard for bottom job. We have slow WiFi so blogging has been not good. We are working on solution.
