Engine room - new insulation - 2011

Debbie in the engine room\space.
The engine room sound insulation was not that easy of an install. It is the kind of sound insulation with the lead in the middle.
December 2011 - Currently At Marina Cortez Harbor IslandSan Diego, CA

Debbie made brown paper template (patterns) for each piece. She also taped all the surrounding areas with brown paper to guard against over spray.
We took the templates out to the dock in the shade and traced them to the sheets of sound insulation.
We laid out the templates to get the most use of the sound insulation - layout for optimal coverage.  We bought three sheets for this part of the project and 3M™ Super 77™ Multipurpose Spray Adhesive.
Debbie cutting insulation to the pattern.
After we cut out one with a box knife I started doing the taping. Debbie kept cutting out insulation.
Ok I did some cutting also.
This took several hours. I was a bit slow so Debbie got on her bunny suit and started to dry fit the pieces in place.
Me taping.
Maybe that is why I was slow😊
When she was satisfied she sprayed the glue and fit the insulation into place. There were a few fitting hiccups but otherwise all went well. The glue is nasty stuff. It is real hard to get off the body and especially your hair!

Starboard side aft brown paper covering dorad hose into engine room.
Aft port side.
We sometimes did not take into account that there would be insulation installed when adding the other so we would be an inch over as the insulation is one inch thick.

We did not get the insulation screwed in nor did we get the seams or corners taped yet.
We also now need to re-mount all the wires and cables etc.
Another weekend. The engine will be getting installed in a week or so, tic tock!
Holes are for the dorad hoses
The cable is for the engine controls, it will be moved
Port side, damn they fit good!
Looking aft. The hole is for the blower hose.
 Looking aft.
 Again, looking aft and starboard.

My only attempt to dry fit the insulation in before gluing.
