Shower curtain sewing and fitting - 2011

February 2011 - At Marina Cortez Harbor Island, San Diego, CA
Debbie engineered and sewed up the shower curtain for the head. We went for a fit on Sunday and to our surprise it was not wide enough. It is about six inches short. Now this is a regular household shower curtain that is made as a hook less shower curtain. We have one at home and like it. We have a curved shower curtain rod and it is still long enough at home but not at the boat. The curtain rod itself does not go all the way to the chain locker bulkhead but Islander must have a reason for that. Maybe that is where you put your showering gear and the water does not get there? At any rate, we now need to run down to Bed Bath and Beyond for another one so Debbie can put them together - not all of it as that would be too much to try to hang for storing it away but say eight or ten inches. The shower is real big with the curtain and looks like it will be very user friendly. We were testing it with the head door open but you can get the idea. Plus we only had a few hooks on the track for testing.
Debbie cut off the top with all the loops and re-sewed it and then added the strip with the snaps on it.
oops we had the shower curtain up with the snaps facing out. We turned it around 😌

This is the side that is short, not wide enough.

Looking at short side from the inside of the shower.
OK it looks a little sloppy but it is just a first fitting and test.
We like where it stores on our 1978  Islander Freeport s\v Elegant'sea.
It will not be so baggy when it is connected at the top.
In case you are thinking about missing the bowl, I do not stand and pee. No one is that good a shot on a moving boat. We ask our guests to do the same 😬
