Engine installation - Update

Saturday we went to the boat and the motor was sitting in the bilge. No motor mounts yet - at least forward ones. We were ambitious and thought we could do a few things however the A- frame was still there and in our way most of the time. It was not very safe for us to move around and had to contort ourselves just to get around it. We ended up going outside to work on some other projects (shade screen, wiring at back of nav station).

The new coupler is on the shaft now.
We started this project right after Thanksgiving - it is now the middle of February and we're still at it. We knew there was a month break or more in between any motor work getting done and we welcomed it so we could get the engine room ready. Still it seems like it is a long project.  We are sure it is worth it and Phil is the right choice for the project (no doubt about that) but I can now see as why people say "we re-powered our boat and would never do it again"...and we are not even doing the engine removal and installation!

This appears to be one of the old Perkins motor mounts.

Just talked (via email) to Phil and he said the Perkins mounts will not be used as he is having new front and back mounts made and will paint them Beta red before installing. What a guy! Now that makes you glad you have a person doing the installation that works as if the boat was his.
