Sunday we started working on the refer again. We got the second two inch piece of foam in the bottom. Then we started on the lower sides. The bottom slants down to the starboard bow. So this makes all the lower pieces here different lengths and heights making it time consuming. We did get the three lower pieces in and now the upper side pieces will or should go easier.
We debated whether to make the bottom the same height all around. It is low at the drain end from when it was an ice box. The melting ice would flow out to the bilge. Maybe if we thought about it at the beginning we would have filled it in with epoxy and just added the foam after. Now it would be more work but still could be done and we could lose some volume. But we decide it is not a big deal to us and we will have some shelving also so steady as she goes.
So the gluing is messy. It gets all over the place so we needed to be extremely careful. Bottom line is we made some progress. We have two months to complete this project and it sounds like a lot of time but we both work 40 hours and there are competing issues. Also we want to play some. Like this Saturday we may go to the SDSU Men’s basketball game so there goes Saturday, at least the mid-day.
So there is life beside the boat life to be lived.
Cutting and trimming the Dow Blew board. Got one of those Japanese saws at Harbor Freight because the circular saw we have is not big enough to cut through the two inches. The saw worked good with the fine blade side.
Buttering it up with glue. Kinda like laying brick 😁
Could be a hand model 😎
Each piece needs to be custom fitted with three of the four sides different.
It should get quicker now.
