Salon door

We got the first coat of diluted varnish on the door yesterday. First it was washed once again with TSP and then rinsed off. Then it got sanded again with 220 grit. I kinda over did the sanding on the top panel where the hanging locker door was hitting it for 32 years. Debbie would stop the hanging locker door from hitting this door but the damage has been done. The wood or the veneer is not damaged but it is marked with black marks. I tried sanding to the point of going through the veneer. If you look close you can see where the veneer is wearing though from sanding. It will just be part of the character of the boat and is hardly noticeable.
We varnished the one side and edges. When this side is done the other needs a little preping and it is ready to go. Could switch over back and forth but it could get confusing.
Used a slightly larger sponge brush on the door.
