Our bell

The boat came with a bell. It was in awful shape. They have a coating on them so they will not tarnish. Ours was all pitted from the salt air. It was not looking good. We took it to the Chula Vista swap meet with us when we were sellers once. Got to sell off some of the junk I buy there once in a while. So it sat there. No one even wanted it. So we decided since it was part of the boat we would refinish it.


I think we started with 220 sand paper then 320 then with wet sand paper. It took a lot of time and there are a few pieces to do also. After a lot of sanding and some polishing we declared it done. We then put a couple coats of polyurethane on it and bought a new rope handle for it at “Seabreeze Nautical Books” in San Diego.
