Leaving Loews Crown Isle Marina for Coronado Cays Yacht Club, SD - 2010

OK off we go to the Coronado Cay's Yacht Club.
October 2010 - At the Loews Crown Isle Marina in the Loews Coronado Resort San Diego, CA

Getting in and out of the slip at Loews Crown Isle Marina is always a challenge because of the wind.  We usually let go of the spring line, then tie the bow line to that spot pulling the boat back. We then let go of the stern line and Debbie puts the boat into reverse and I hold the bow from blowing over to the east side of the slip. We tie up on the west side. Then I jump on and away we go!

In the video the two empty slips are Loews guest slips. We were at the west one (towards the ocean).

OK tied up at guest slip at CCYC.
Our guest slip at the CCYC is really some one else’s slip. They let us use it as a guest. The real guest slip is in front of the CCYC and you do not want it for staying overnight or a couple days. It can be rolly and there is no electricity. They have weddings on Saturdays at the CCYC and it can be noisy and right on top of you at the guest slip. Try to get one like we did.

There now is a new restaurant at the beginning of the road to CCYC. The little complex houses a real estate office, a new chandlery and a restaurant among other things. The restaurant is a bit pricey but it is worth the convenience. We ate there a couple times and got some take out.

We were going to stay two days three nights but because of the impeller problem we had we stayed just one whole day. We were going to take the bus into Coronado, go on the Coronado city walk but as I said we missed it. Instead we did a Cay’s walk and went to both little parks at the Cays. In the past we have taken the bus into Coronado and went to a play. There are a lot of choices for other activities. So the first day we went to dinner at the new restaurant and a walk and hung out at the boat. Next day we went up to the pool at the CCYC.
I was a little disappointed that the pools was not warmer. It has been a cold July. The coldest in seventy years. So that may be part of it. The used to have a cover for the pool and I think that was the other part. It is gone, only pieces left on the big roller. Anyway, the Jacuzzi was nice and showers etc.
That evening we went to dinner at the Yacht Club (needed reservations) and it was good. They had a local band play and that was fun. Nice people and clubhouse views etc.

The normal guest slip -  you do not want this, too rolly!

The little park looking south - the hills are Mexico!
Looking East - We never saw so many ant hills as were in this park!
Looking west - at the end of the road you see a another park then the Silver Strand State Beach road then the Silver Strand State Beach then the ocean!
Looking out from the little park - this boat is in the second channel - it is height of the tide.
OK we are off for the return trip home but on our Freeport, not this boat!
