BayCation part 3 - Glorietta Bay to Loews Coronado Resort! - 2010

Now we are heading from Glorietta Bay to Loews Coronado Resor, San Diego
That is not an real "route" I just put it there to show you what I am talking about

There is a short cut for the locals only. Reason I say that is you will definitely run aground if you are not very careful.

I ran aground under the Coronado Bridge once on our first sail in the Catalina 30' we bought.. I was with a worke mate but that is another story. It is 5’ at one point near the entrance to the Gloria Bay channel!

It is a hour or more south out of Glorietta Bay through the channel to San Diego bay then following the buoys till be get past the shallow parts that are off the amphibious base. After that we can cut towards the ocean side of the bay and the Cays channel.
Did I mention there are lots of one foot deep spots on either side of the buoys!
Definitely do not stray outside the markers.
Debbie has the helm as we enter the cays channel. We have been here a bunch of times now and are still cautions of not veering from the channel.
Debbie at the helm.
Entering the channel - towards Loews Coronado Resort in the foreground.
Loews Coronado Resort to the starboard.
We turn to starboard right after the big power boat.
That is Mexico in the hills.
OK we made the turn into the Loews Crown Isle Marina channel

Getting in further.
Our guest slip is still down further on the right (starbord)
We stayed here at Lowes for the rest of Monday and all day Tuesday and then we were about to leave on Wednesday at about 1:00 pm when we discovered that the engine was not making any cooling water. Bummer.
To read about that go here in this blog.

While here our daughter came and visited ups for “Daughters’ day”. You ask what is Daughter’s Day? Daughter’s Day is a holiday we created for our daughter Lindsey when she was way young. She said that there is a Father’s day and a Mother’s day and it was not fair that there was not a daughter’s day. So we asked her to pick a date and it would be Daughter’s Day. It has been ever since all these years. Lindsey is now 29.

She got free parking and was able to join us in all our activities for the day at no charge. We spent most of the day at the pools.
They have gondola rides here at Lowes and I missed getting any pictures of them in action. You can even get a massage on the ride. Now that seems a bit weird but who knows maybe it is fun. There is a covered gondola in the picture below. This is from our boat at our guest slip at Lowes.
A night picture from our boat to the holel' s entrance
The moon of cours!
Lindsey and I (we did not get caught in the adult pool)

There are tow Jacuzzis also
Lindsey.
Then we go to the spa (it is included).
Guess who.
Because it was so cold this July and because maybe of the economy the pool are was not real busy. We have been here when it has been in season and just too clouded. It was nice for us this time.
