Starboard side salon window installed! - 2012

May 2012 - Marina Kona Kai  San Diego, CA
The next day Debbie started on the aft starboard side salon window.

This time the inside frame had to be broken free from the head liner. This is dicey as we do not want to rip the headline at all coasts. A slow careful method of removing the the inside ring and Debbie gets it off without a tear. It is a little hard on the hands.
Now it is time to break the out side seal. You need to work the window from both sides.
Debbie pries the window out.
Now its the long cleaning process.
Then it is the dry fit and it fits good. There was not much if any sealant on the bottom of the original window. It did not leak and the wood is in good shape around both of the windows. In fact all the windows so far the wood around them has been in good shape.
Debbie dry fits the window and it passes so it is time to clean and caulk the windows.
I hold the window while Debbie caulks it.
We smooth out the caulking around the edges of the window.
Debbie puts the window in place and we check for squareness.
Kind of hard because there is really nothing square. We kind of line it up to the other window and the eye brow.

We are careful not to press on the window as it seems the natural thing to do.
Debbie then places the inside ring on and does the screwing from the inside out around the window.
I then give it a final tighten with my he man strength 😀
All done and it sounds so easy. We are tired and it is time consuming and this takes a lot of energy to do right.
Clean it all up and replace the curtains and wa la two new windows in!
