Debbie in the port lazarett!
The stern anchor windless wiring we wanted to get done before we install the Garmin
Class A Drive Unit for GHP 12 for the under deck autopilot.
The Garmin Class A Drive Unit for GHP 12 autopilot motor will be mounted under the cockpit making installing the bus and stern windless new cables more difficult. The old cables and connections were corroded and not marine cables although ti did still work the windless. Down the road or seas we do not want problems though especially if we can fix it now, not later at sea or at anchor etc.
Debbie first had to clear the way by cutting off some ex-host hose wire ties and other mounting screws for the wind generator cables. We will re-tie these pieces.
Debbie's in now and she has to scoot back under the stern lazarett.
On a side note:
You can see the hack saw blade, Debbie had earlier cut off the cockpit scupper hose after removing it from the scupper so we could get a new one one (size it up) and replace the old kinked one. It was sanitary hose and needs a 60 deg or so elbow so the hose does not kink again. We will get different hose than was used by whoever the PO had replace it last time.
OK Debbie is in there!
Debbie climbed back
into the lazerett and worked her magic. First we determined where about the bus
and the terminal block would go and then Debbie took that a bit further by
deciding where the windlass wires would reach and then the connections to both
the terminal block and the bus relative to the windless wires. After all the engineering was done by Debbie
while she was upside down in the lazarett shed drilled the holes with the electric
drill.
Debbie drilled the screw holes now mounting the bus. I took this picture looking down into the rear port lazarett. Debbie looks like a miner, a boat miner 😄
Blue Sea Systems DualBus Plus 150A BusBar mounted.
We first thought to put some blue tape on the drill bit to mark how deep.
We
really did not want to go through the cockpit sole.
This was the hard part
and after Debbie got the DualBus Plus 150A BusBar
mounted she mounted the terminal
block.
These are up under the cockpit pit sole by the rear lazarett. Now that
they are mounted we can run the new cables and be done with this are making the
autopilot install a lot close to happening. The stainless steel plate is what the stern windless in mounted on under the cockpit.
