The anchor rode for the spare Bruce 44# anchor(45 lb) (300 feet of Lewmar 8 plat line and 10 feet of 3/8 3B chain) got stored in the bilge by the head. It is ready to deploy if needed.
Debbie opened the hatch in the head and lined it with a blue tarp.
Then Debbie stood up on deck and fed the line through the hatch in the head to me laying on the sole. We put a cushion over the door stoop and shower grate in the head.
It took a while but the line coiled up nice and should come out easy.
Another project completed!
The space is holding 20’ of 5/16 new chain that originally came with the Lewmar anchor rode but we cut it off. That spare 20 feet of 5/16 chain is now a backup for the stern anchor rode.
The space also contains the 300 feet of Lewmar 8 plat line and 10 feet of 3/8 3B chain.
It all gets along fine and fills the space. This space has a
smaller access are because the hatch for it is on the starboard side not on the
center line. The companionway is on the starboard side of the mast which is
center. Any way it is all OK and works out well, at least so far.
We should be able to just walk the 10 feet o chain and some rode to the chain locker in the head. Then having a small lead line attached to the chain with a clip on the end we feed it up to the rode houser on the drum side of the windless. We got up on deck to the anchor locker and pull the chain and rode up into the anchor locker and attach it to the 45 Bruce anchor. Sounds like a plan 😉
