Refer insulation, evaporator flat plate - freezer - 2011

June 2011 - At Marina Cortez, San Diego, CA
The freezer is starting to get to the point of fitting the evaporator flat plate. We tried to last night and came up with a plan but after further thought is will not work. It could work but we would like 2” of insulation on the top of the evaporator flat plate, then the lids.

What we are looking at now is 1” wide by 1/2 deep around the edge of the top of the evaporator flat plate
We looked online at the evaporator flat plate but it does not show the bendable areas, OK it shows it the picture but you really cannot read it.
Note:
We found out you bend the evaporator flat plate where you want to fit your freezer.
We cut to fit two more pieces of Dow Blew board insulation.
One was the top piece and it took a lot of trimming (time) to get it right.
The next piece was much easier.
We think we will use spray foam for the wood to fiberglass joint to seal it. We will take out the two pieces of foam we made and seal the are then glue them in then foam up the voids.

That’s it, we or I got side tracked for the early part of the evening on other projects. We got the shelf for the starting battery screwed down for sail on Saturday. At the same time we got the propane detector sensor in the bilge (by the shelf) secured and some of the wires secured.
The blue tape is where we thought the evaporator flat plate would sit.

Then we did some outboard motor lift work. Also we washed the companion way hatch Sunbrella cover and Debbie got some varnish prep work done. We had two large rulers for canvas work and had to decide on which one to keep. We chose the wood one over the aluminum one and gave it to out boat neighbor Dave who does canvas work.
We cleaned out some things form the lazaretts for sailing etc.
