Refer\Freezer lids Dow Blew board insulation completed! - 2012

April 2012 Marina Kona Kai Shelter Island San Diego, CA
Put in refer from here in freezer.

Debbie did the last of the refer insulation. Yes she finished off the lids for the refer.
There are four. The other day we finished sanding down the one top Debbie fiber glassed over the insulation. I has been told how much work it was to get the lid to fit again after four layer of fiber glass were added. Not again. We finally got that top to fit and it will need to be touched up with glass before it can be painted. Next time one layer then fit etc.

So Debbie started the other three. The rear one under the lazerett had no insulation on it.

 May I say this:
We defrosted the refer the other day and so put some ice blocks, jell filled plastic is blocks into the refer to keep the food cold while we defrosted the freezer.
Well the refer went from 40 deg to 35 deg and stayed that was for two days. It was even hard to get the temp back to 40 deg! So we have done a great job of insulting this whole refer\freezer box. It is the lids that leak at the seals a bit and so let in damp air that causes the freezer to frost up. We are working on this. We will get it right as soon as the tops are insulated, glassed and painted.
The DowBlew board insulation fit is hole but it was too tight.
Refer hatch under lazarett, good access if your too lazy to walk in to boat.
So Debbie marked up the back top and then glued on the 2” of DowBlew board insulation.

Trimmed some more off the Dow Blew board.
Fitting nice.
Debbie used blue tape to shape it and position the DB for gluing.

Next was the freezer back lid. It had two inches of Dow Blue Board (DBB) on it but we wanted to add 2” more of Dow Blew board. There is a LED light tobe counted for and a evaporator plate tube to be counted for.
As it will sit.
A little tricky was the front and back freezer lids need to touch so they seal. That means there should be no space between the insulation, or just enough for some fiberglass and paint J , like I said a bit tricky.
Rear freezer lid Dow Blew board glued.
Then Debbie trimmed and fit the front freezer lid for the second 2" of Dow Blew board.
Ready for gluing.
Front and back freezer lids glued and drying.
