Garmin NMEA 2000 backbone cable end replacements - 2012

We are getting ready to setup the the Garmin 740 Chart Plotter.

Called Garmin support again:

U.S. toll-free: 1-800-800-1020

 That means we need to snake the wires up to the plotter through the binnacle guard (1" SS tubing).

To do that you buy a NMEA 2000 backbone cable and cut the end off and replace it with a female or male.

So what’s the difference?

Garmin explained that the back bone cable used to be used to extend the Garmin 2000 network but is the same thing as the drop cable. So now the backbone cable is just a longer drop cable and that is what we want a longer back drop cable.
