Xantrax Link 2000 mounted! GMI 10 started

Trying to get the Xantrax Link 2000 set in place square was not easy. There is nothing square about the hole area. We just did not want to look at the display and have it be at and angle to the eye.
We taped the template that Debbie made to the bulkhead.
The best spot we could come up with was the desk top. We measured from the top of the desktop to the bottom of the template Debbie made and then eyeballed it to get it eye strait across.
The reason the Link 2000 is at the top is because to cover the two holes that is the only option. We may mount the AC\Heat thermostat here also but the combinations of the thermostat and Link 2000 and Garmin GMI 10 only worked with the Link 2000 on top to cover the bottom hole. It is not a bad choice but we might have chosen the GMI 10 to be on top. We are still undecided about the thermostat.

That done we marked off the inside are to be cut with a pencil and used a drill to get started.
That is ugly!

Scary also. This is a do make a mistake zone :)

Then it was time for the hand hack saw to cut the rest. Then we used a rasp to finish it off.
We looked for the Drummel to make this easier but I think it is at work.

Make a mistake here and it would need a placke to cover the area.

A tight fit to get it right.

We had to cut the top off the Garmin template so we could fit it.
There is only about 1/8 of an inch to play with between the bottom of the Link 2000 and the GMI 10 that has wood.

The hole we drilled is to the bottom of the big hole. Not enough wood here for good holding.

Saw makes where the saw jumped around. Got to be careful here as it is a high see are.
This will get covered with the GMI 10.

3 1/2 hole saw.

As it turns out the hole for the 3 1/2 inch hole saw and yes we actually had one was at the very edge of the existing hole we are trying to cover. I tried to cut the hole any way but saw jumped around. So now it is make a jig to hold the saw in place to make the cut.

Also on the other side there is a couple 110 volt main line wires to be moved.
