Mast deck joint sealant work - 2012

Debbie took a stab at re-sealing the mast deck joint.
Debbie got it all prepped and she had bought some line from Sailing Supply for the initial fill.
March 2012 - Currently at MarinaKona Kai  Shelter Island San Diego, CA
They had discontinued making this for a while but are back on the market.
Sailing Supply gave Debbie some mast track lube to test out. Debbie will be going up the mast soon again 😊
The line would hold the mast in place and then the Sikaflex would seal it up.
We plan on repainting the black aluminum mast collar with some blackRust-Oleum paint.

First off we had to tighten the bolt. We  wire brushed the threads to clean them up and added some sewing machine oil to the threads. Did not want to use WD40 because it is a spray and we did not want the sealing are to get oil on it, I am messy. Then we tighten the lock nut. Ok fine but the mast moves side to side. We pushed the mast to the center and then Debbie and I decide there was not enough Sikaflex to do the job in one tube.  Wanted the line to go to the deck and then fill it. Hmmm Debbie is going to call Rigworks for some quick advice on this. They had suggested we use wooden shims but we like the line idea. That’s what came out.
