New water pump has broken hose barb - Update - 2011

We got an email propyl form SHURFlo support on our questions. Seems this new info will require a re-install of the water pump. That is if we want to make it right and have it last a long time.
December 2011 - Currently at Marina Cortez Harbor IslandSan Diego, CA

Both hoses look very flexible neither of them is Pex rigid tubing. However, I would recommend a loop at both ends at least 18” more on each side and a straight fitting on both sided. A longer hose with a loop will absorb the vibration a lot better and a straight fitting will reduce back pressure on the output.
We also recommend when a pump is mounted vertical like yours is. The pump head must be down it does not affect performance either way, but it recommends just in case of a leak the motor will not get damaged.”

Note:
We ended up with a SHURflo SMART SENSOR 4.0 freshwater pump which has worked great. Switched out a larger one.

What we will do is flip the pump around and install 18-24 inches of the white house in a pretzel type loop and uses all bronze fittings getting rid of the plastic ones. This will also need some re-wiring and new fittings and hose.

But first we needed to fix the leak so we could have water again.
We had one bronze fitting, so we used it with some more flexible water hose for the time being.
We had to double hose clamp it down as the hose and fitting do not seem to fit together really good. There really is not room for two hose clamps at least this type of hose clamps.

This stopped the leak from the cracked plastic fitting and gave us water again. This was done after a day in the office as usual, so it took up some of our evening.
In the coming weeks we will re-invent this water pump setup so it is correct and will be a lasting system as it is used every day.
