Testing for different methods of raising and lowering the stern steps.- 2011

This is going to be a test for different methods of raising and lowering the stern steps.
September 2011  - Currently At Marina Cortez Harbor IslandSan Diego, CA

They get heavy once in the water and also about 80 percent down they get heavy.
When raising them they come out of the water with water in them. Some drains out some does not until they are a bit higher making them heavy.

When leaving in the dingy they need to be raised out of the water so passing wakes and sea fetch do not bang them around and damage them.

One solution is to tie a fender to them so they do not bang so much on their hinges. A big wake will still bang them around though. But you see the point.

To do this while in the dingy may require a one handed approach. That will require a block and tackle and tie off in easy reach.

The davits are strong and will support this but where can the tackle be mounted and accomplish this at a good angle?
The first test will be using the PVC pipe at the spot where the SS cross brace will go for the davits.
