Kato Marine, Island Davits stern support straps finished - 2011

December 2011 Marina Kona Kai Shelter Island San Diego, CA
Debbie then tapped the are applied 3M4000 UV Marine Adhesive  to the are and screws.
Because the Frigoboat refer is now working we have started some of the little projects that have been lingering around.

We finished off the Kato Marine Island Davits installation by screwing in the stern rail support straps to the cockpit coming. Now the davits are ready for some use. At some point we will order the bar that goes across the davits but we would like to know the dingy lifting points so the bar will be custom to the dingy. We are thinking of a 10’ dingy or abouts. WM has one we like at this time but it is too soon to get one for us.

We are about to work on the system for bringing up and down the stern steps. More on that later.

First we sanded and cleaned the are with Acetone. Then we drilled the holes after spacing the straps about a half inch from the back stays. Then fitted the screws and backing plates to make sure they would fit.
As you can see reaching up under and getting at the screws with lock washers and nuts was not that easy.
This took a while and gave both Debbie and I some sore spots on the rib cage and under the arms from bending over the coming and other contortions. We ended up working by drop light as the night came upon us as this was a after work project.
Debbie has shorter arms so it was hard for her to reach the screws. Heck it was hard for me but do-a-ble.
Sometimes I had to hold the screw still and put on the nut and spin the nut down the threads some because of the limited space. Debbie could not get in the area to help and have a good grip and angle on the screw driver. Did some cussing I am sorry to say 😈
Starboard side done!
When the were secure Debbie removed the excess 3M4000 UV Marine Adhesive
