There went Hurricane Patricia! - biggest on record!big surge at marina - 2015

End of October 2015 At private slip in Nuevo Vallarta in Banderas BayMexico

Chamela (Perula Bay) when we were anchored there in 2014.
The Sierra Madre mountain system of Mexico is on the edge of Puerto Vallarta and saved us from all but a heck-of-a-lot of rain from Hurricane Patricia.Boaters at the marina (and some tourists) were evacuated off property but the mountains saved us - just as the "old timers" predicted.

ParadiseVillage Marina in Banderas Bay, Mexico is the best hurricane hole - ever!
Chamela Mexico (Perula Bay) took a direct hit from hurricane Patricia.. It is where we anchor and go ashore after rounding Cabo Corrientes . A small fishing village and nice beach.
Chamela when we were anchored there in 2014.
Barra-Bahia de Navidad got hit and it fared well - lots of wind and rain, loss of power and rooftops however no loss of life. We are positioned better here in Paradise Village Marina as we are about 25 plus miles inside the bay so we are deep into land. Barra-Bahia de Navidad is right at the ocean side. We have friends there that fared well at the Grand Isla Navidad Resort  marina.
We fared better as it was another(Patricia) hurricane that was a none event for us. We did get a big surge at the marina.
Just before it turned inland with 200 mph winds!
