The original bilge pup in now sitting in the spot it likes and needs to be plumbed.
We bought new hoses for the in side of the pump.
Also new elbow but it is the wrong size. Should have could have brought the hose with me!
The
original strainer was a question. The feet on it are wore off and so it could
get sucked up on the side of the bilge or stuck to the bottom. The rest of it
is fine. I wanted to just put some silicone feet on the edges and be done with
it. The it was the “what happens when we ar 100 miles out and taking on water?”
scenario pops into my head. Would I be glad I cheeped out on the item. After
all if it does not work the pump does not work.
OK so to the chandlery and buy
a new one. As you can see there is no fine screen in this new one.

put added bronze screen in.
Not sure why (other than for small debris) but it
seems like an OK idea. We may use the strainer that the PO made with the new
pickup.
