VHF radio working, put new connector by mast - 2012

We found the problem with the Standard Horizon Matrix GX 2150 VHF radio not working.

May 2012 - Currently at Marina Kona Kai  Shelter Island San Diego, CA

The connection on the coax cable that comes out of the bottom of the mast was not correct.

We put connections on this cable then had to add another cable to the radio. This required two more coax cable ends and a joiner.

We tested by using a 30' piece of coax we had from another antenna that had factory ends on it. We unplugged the cable to the radio from the connector at the bottom of the mast and used the 30' coax cable we had. The radio still did not pass radio check.

This meant to us that the problem was ether the connection at the bottom of the mast or the connection at the top of the mast at the antenna. It turned out it was the bottom one as we first put a new connection on there and it worked.
Now to re-connect the AIS to the Garmin network. That we disconnected for work on the Garmin network.
Putting on new connector on coax cable.
