Overhead Light test with the LED strip lights - 2012

June 2012 - Marina Kona Kai Shelter Island San Diego, CA

The light test with the LED strip replacing the two florescent bulbs went OK. It was really a mixed bag.
Note:
We have "Slim Line" but they are probably not made any more. They do have the same lite at Downwind Marine  which are called Thin-Lite Dual Tube Lights - 12VDC White..

The one LED strip does not really give off enough light for living on DC lighting alone. Of course we have not done that yet. That is coming up soon. Maybe this week we start by not using the two 120 volt lamps.
These lights may be needed to eat at the table also.
At present we are not crazy about the light over the galley. We want to change it also.
showing one strip LED in the light fixture..
Just the florescent light on.
Just the LED light on.
Both again.
The two LED strips give off almost too much light.

For now the decision is to have both. We have four lights in the salon\sattee area. We will do two with two LED strips and two with one LED strip. Have one each on each side.

We then can have the more subtle light if desired or the more bright light if desired or any combo.

We can then later change them if we wish by adding or removing strips.
One bright one will go over the sattee by the door to the stateroom as it will be over the water maker which will be under the settee there.

One bright one will go forward in the salon as that is where I usually sit and play the guitar.

Debbie has the aft salon seat as she is shorter than me and reads her Kindle Fire which is also back lit any way.
