Davit welding, added sleigh ends electric lift motor mount, cleats - 2015

Beginning of July 2015 At private slip in Nuevo Vallarta in Banderas Bay, Mexico
The arrow points to where the dinghy was catching the davits on the way up some times. Sometimes it would catch the or on top of the dinghy. With the new sled type of skids this should not happen any more.
The new electric motor mount and the new cleat. The cleat was on top of the davits but because we raised them up the cleat was not usable. So now it is.
It is about 25' of 8 awg marine wire running to a bus then to the house batteries. Of course there will be a breaker etc in between.
The white wire is to the LED stern light which was removed to weld the davits when they were removed by us.
z
Moved this cleat to here and the cam cleat is sitting on 1" SS tubing that we had welded on. This will make life easier for pulling up the bow of the dinghy. We also move the wind generator brace to the davits.

Kato Marine Island Davit electric lift motor wiring 2 of 7 - 2015

End of June 2015 - Paradise Village Marina in Banderas Bay Mexico
OK I found these items while doing research into the problem. It looks like they will work together but will they work with the Badland Harbor Freight winch? When and how to get them to mainland Mexico, we are not in San Diego or in La Paz now.

Kato Marine Island Davit electric lift motor wiring 1 of 7 - 2015

End of June 2015 - Currently in Paradise Village Marina in Puerto Vallarta, Banderas Bay Mexico

Ok, the dingy davit motor is missing a Solenoid box. We are in Paradise Village Marina in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. We received this motor from some cruisers who brought it down just before we left to go cruising this last season. No time to install it. We were anchored out for 6 months and did 1000 nm. We just got back for hurricane season and started to install this motor.
Note:
We did find the Solenoid box,

Varnishing the stateroom hanging locker louvered doors - 2015

June 2015 - Paradise Village Marina in Banderas Bay Mexico
We are currently house sitting in Bucerias.
These take some time to do. This one is all sanded and washed with TSP.
Started varnishing the stateroom hanging locker louvered doors
Putting on the first coat of diluted varnish.
No A/C in here and it is hot. In the 90's and high humidity.
Varnish still seems to do great, not me so much.
I have to be careful not to drop sweat into the work.
OK not bad😓
I put  coat two on the back side also.

We will not get these two door done before our house sitting job is done. We had just too many things going at the same time, bet you know that feeling. We do (as it stands now) have another house sitting gig at the first of the month. We will then finish off these. We will have four coats on them before we start the new gig.

Garmin under deck autopilot drive A rudder sensor broken 2015

Middle of June 2015 - Currently in Paradise Village Marina in Banderas Bay Mexico

Debbie sat in the lazerett and tested our Garmin GHC 10 class A under deck autopilot unit with a multimeter. The rudder sensor went out on us leaving Acapulco this last season. The rudder sensor as it turn out is dead. Now for the warranty replacement issues ect.
The black pins were what was tested for resistance.
Full Extension - .5 kOhm
Full Retraction - 9.5 kOhm

If you do not get these values, then the built-in rudder feedback sensor has failed and we'll either need to replace the entire drive unit or provide you with a GRF 10 external rudder feedback sensor to install.

We did not get these values.

So we are working to get a GRF 10 external rudder feedback sensor to install, under warranty. If not the price is about $250.00 USD. Getting the drive A unit back to the US for replacement\repair is next to impossible from mainland Mai land Mexico..

More Shadetree boat awning systems upgrades - again - 2015

Beginning of June 2015 - Paradise Village Marina in  Banderas Bay, Mexico
The Shadetree boat awning systems are getting some more upgrades.  Debbie is replacing a couple of zippers on the aft one with " jacket zippers ". (One will be changed out on the forward one, too!)  Also, we added snaps to the forward Shade Tree this winter while at anchor. This will make it easier to add the side shade we use along with the Shade Trees. We will be putting these up for the Summer season soon.  They really help the A/C out by shading the boat and have the side benefit of shedding the heavy rains we get form time to time during, guess what, the rainy season. (Note that we are house sitting which is the reason Debbie is sitting at a dining room table with the sewing machine on it!)
