Yep decided to take it on. We first had to decide if we wanted to take 80 grit sandpaper to it and try to remove some of the spots. There were some black spots in the teak and gouge in the teak wood that it seems I may have done somehow (the gouge) as it did not look too old. The black stains came from the PO. We decide to go for it and it was a good call. I did not think the black spots would come out but most of it did, so did a lot of teak. Got the gouge out also that was in the teak wood.
Also washed it with as we usually do with TSP.
Debbie then tapped and papered the whole area.
I then put the first coat (50% varnish and 50% 333 interlux thinner) on the seat.
We will go with a Satin seat and gloss trim as that is the theme of the boat for us (you can see it on the head door).
We first put about 7 coats of gloss on it then tape off the are to be Satin and varnish it a few more coats then satin then do the gloss a few more coats till there is at least 10 on everything.
You can see the major black stain in the sanding area
Working on the major stain.
Nice being able to sit down

Mostly done preping
All done preping
Got first coat on
First coat still wet.
There a couple spots I will need to sand smother and a couple I miised on the front edge that will still need sanding but for the most part it is on it's way to being varnished!
