Upper deck hand rail and eye brow

Beginning of June at Paradise Village Marine in Puerto Vallarta Mexico

The hand rail on the upper deck got a coat of Sikkens Cetol Natural Teak and we got bummed that it was so dark.

We thought we did everything almost the same so what gives. I went back and researched our previous methods and all seemed fine. The we looked at some old pictures on the blog of the cap rail and a eye brow and saw that they were dark at first also.

New picture of recent work.
So you can see the hand rail is darker and much darker if you see it right than the eye brows or cap rails. Now we think the hand rails will start turning lighter as the time goes by the Sikkens Cetol Natural Teak will dry and lighten up.

We have gotten both cap rails done now and the top eye brow now only needs one more coat of Gloss and we also got a coat of gloss on the forward eye brow.

  1. I used Signature's Honey Teak when I did our cap rail, but I couldn't remember exactly how dark it was either after first painting it on. I just did the cockpit seat and drop boards and they turned out darker than the cap rail is now, so I guess it lightens up in time too.
