Identified and readied mounting spot for the SSB radio and Pactor modem

We did get some work done on the SSB project.

When this spot t is decide upon we will secure this wiring up nicely.

We re-located the wiring running under the nav station to a few inches more from the hull.

Marked off spot.

Then we dry fitted the SSB radio where it would be mounted and decided the plywood it was going to be mounted on was too long. We made it a bit long so we could stake down the cables coming to and from the radio to the plywood. That will need to be re-thought. It could be we just wire tie them to the existing wiring running through the space. Any we we cut the wood shorter and re-fit the plywood and measure for the mounting pieces we had put together 3M 5200. These are just strips of ½ inch marine plywood we cut and cemented together. We want the cement them to the hull using 3M 5200 and then attach the plywood to them so the plywood can be removed if need be. Not in that order though.

We will mount the radio bracket to the plywood then the plywood to the strips and then cement the whole thing onto the hull. Then we can mount the radio to the radio bracket. This way we can:

  • Remove the radio if need be.
  • Remove the radio bracket if need be.
  • Remove the plywood if need be.

Not the strips, they will be permanently mounted to the hull for strength as the radio is heavy.

So we sanded the areas for the plywood strips to be mounted to the hull and then had to clean up the mess.

Now to buy the fasteners and fabricate the rest etc.
