First solar panel bimini ss tubing up - 2011

August 2011 - At Marina Cortez Harbor Island, San Diego, CA
We put up 12” piece of SS 1” tubing for the cross piece to clear the bimini.
The 12” piece may prove to be too high it seems at this time a good starting point. The 8’ 6” SS 1” tubing that goes across the top of the bimini to hold the solar panel is about 2” above the bimini. It is hard to tell as the starboard side is not done. This makes holding the tubing across the bimini by hand the only option on the one side. This is all still in the design stage at the moment.
We will try to find three feet of 1” SS tubing for the remainder of the supports. Last tubing we bought we had to get 20’ as they did not sell it shorter.
 The boom will clear also.

We have a dock mate who has been off the grid for at least three weeks now with two 135 watt panels and has a Frigoboat system for the refer. He says he is on float by noon of each day. I think he has four golf cart wet cell batteries. Now granted that is in San Diego with the water temperature at about 70 deg max (he has a keel cooler) and the air at about 75 deg max.
