Anchor locker Amar Deck Pipe installed - 2010

September 2010 - At Marina Cortez Harbor Island, San Diego, CA
We put in the Amar Deck Pipe with Cap - Chrome Plated Bronze  and found another use for it.
First we drilled a 3 ½ inch hole with a whole saw.

Shows the thickness of the deck where we drilled
Then we drilled all the screw holes, six.

Then we painted the bare wood.

We then cleaned the area with acid tone.

Debbie tapped all around the outside of the pip so the 101 would not make a mess on the deck.

Then we placed lots of 3M 101 around the underside of the pipe.

The 3M 101 makes a mess as usual.
We used lots of 3M 101 so to take up the unevenness of the deck.
Then we screwed it into the deck.
Then Debbie re-attached the top to the Amar Deck Pipe with Cap .
For various reasons it is not necessary to install the Houser pipe directly behind the rope drum.
Done!
The other uses are:
When hauling anchor you can put a boat hook into the Amar Deck Pipe with Cap  and get at the chain piling up and flatten it out. So say ever 50, 75 or maybe 100 feet you would move the chain around to flatten it out so it does not pile up just under the windlass.
Also the 3 ½ size is one of the sizes the solar fans come in. We can put say a computer fan over the hole and attach a small solar panel to it. It would vent the boat all day.
