Heat Gun on cap rail and eye brows - no Cetol? - 2011

Tried a spot on the cap rail.
Debbie and I have decided not to use Cetol at all and go with varnish.

September 2011 -  At Marina Cortez Harbor IslandSan Diego, CA

Most of the work on the boat we have been doing has been in the bowels of the boat. Meaning you do not see it. Electrical, plumbing, refer, anchor and chain locket etc.

So doing varnish is a nice break. We put another coat on the part of the head where we are varnishing.

We also tried out the heat gun on the outside varnish, cap rail. That got me started! Just had to get some old ugly varnish off. Debbie tapped up some brown paper for me on the upper eye brow and I went to work. For the first ¾ of the eye brow it was fun but as I got tired it got old. We did get it all done and cleaned up.
Debbie taped protected the are

The heat gun we bought from Harbor Freight worked great even though it cost very little. I have just used it for heating up rubber hoses for plumbing before.

Now we will sand it.
Clean all the old varnish of the upper and lower gel coat
Caulk it where needed
The varnish!
