We are installing new spreader lights, well under the radar dome - lights to illuminate the deck area. One for forward and one for the mast area.
June 2021 - Currently in Paradise Village Marina in Banderas Bay Mexico (by Puerto Vallarta) The deck light we have now is up too high and it hits the radar dome, shadowing it. The other half of it is the steaming light. We are re-running the wires down from the deck light and are going to use it for the "under-the-dome deck lights". They are LED and will bolt right onto the studs that come out of the radar dome. That is the old Garmin HD 18 dome. We are looking to purchase a new Garmin GMR Fantom™ 18 so here is hoping the studs are the same size. Anyway, this will not be finished till November when we return with the new dome.

Old steaming and deck light.
Old steaming and deck light combo.
On our mast there is a steaming light/ deck light combo. So what we are doing is tying a messenger line to the wires to that light, pulling them down to the spreaders where we have wires from the radar dome going into the mast. Then we separate the steaming and deck light + wires. Then splice in another ground wire. Then pull up the ground and steaming - + wires to the hole for the steaming light. We will purchase an LED steaming light to replace the old combo light. Wire it up. Now you have the deck light wires -+ to hook up LED deck lights by the spreaders or radar dome in our case.
We chose to wire up ours under our radar dome and not have them on the spreaders. Makes it simpler for us and a cleaner look as we already have a radar dome mast mount.
Old dome with studs. The dome is in our cockpit now for testing.
