The Garmin GMR 18 HD Radar. dome is out. It stopped working about two seasons ago. We got errors of 2, 5, and 6. It did work on and off for almost a season. But more off than on. Then last season it just quit working.
June 2021 - Currently in Paradise Village Marina in Banderas Bay Mexico (by Puerto Vallarta)
No going to the states last season with everything going on so we just did with out all season. We do use it but it is not mandatory to have. We tried to trouble shoot it by purchasing a cat 6 crossover cable recommended by Garmin. It is 50, feet so it would reach the dome and come back to the chart plotter. But no love. So we had Eddie our rigger bring it down and we tried powering it right from the batteries and the new cat cable. No good. We think it is shot. It is about about 9 years old but still...New Garmin GMR 18 Fantom radars are out of stock. Probably by the time we are coming back from the states they
will have them in. Lets hope!

The newer Garmin GMR 18 Fantom radars are supposedly plug and play. Meaning the cables are the same.
