After doing the plumbing, installing the "out" hose to the thru-hull/valve and putting in a in hose with strainer down into the Jabsco bilge, it was plumbed. Then we ran wires to the nav station and wired them up to a switch and a buss. We put the switch into the electrical panel then fused the pump with a 10-amp fuse.
October 2020 - We are currently in Paradise Village Marina in Banderas
Bay Mexico (by Puerto Vallarta)
Here we are showing the water flow outside coming out the thru-hull. The newly activated Jabsco bilge pump Model 6600-j is pumping from the bilge - supposedly 8 gallons a minute and quite quiet.
In our 1978 Islander Freeport we have a drawer to the starboard side under the sink. We removed the drawer and were able to find space to run the white 3\4" hose up under the drawer then into the sink area. You can see the white of the hose here.
Then it went through under the sink. We drilled a hole for it to get under the sewing storage area. Which is yet another storage area. We put a good sized loop in the hose to keep the water from syphoning in when heeling over while under power (sail or engine).Debbie cleaned out the sewing locker and under the sewing locker (deep storage) to run the hose.
Under sewing locker where the hose is coming out of.
Here I am drilling a hole for the hose to go up and around the corner to the back of the salon seating. Some people call this "boat yoga"!!
Did not need quite all this hose.
Moving along to the thru-hull after drilling another hole to get past the storage area behind the settee seat.
And finally to the thru-hull valve. The thru-hull/valve was already there.
Strainer set up with check-valve.
All done. Wired, plumbed and working. Now we hope we never have to use it!
