Anchored in Chacala , Mexico - testing Fortress FX-7 stern anchor on s\v Elegant'sea - 2018

Here we tested our newer smaller stern anchor. It was a bust. We were here 3-4 days and nights.

February 2 2018 Anchored in Chacala Mexico

February 2018 - Currently in La Cruz Marina, Banderas Bay Mexico (Marina Riviera Nayarit at La Cruz)

Here I am with the Fortress FX-7 on the back of the Ocean Kayak Malibu Two and am also pulling the boat (s\v Elegant'sea) with the kayak. When we got the boat in the direction to the swell, I dropped the stern anchor. There was not much wind. You can see the line in the water from the kayak to the boat.

The first couple days the seas were real mild so the anchor held. The third day the seas picked up a bit and changed direction and the stern anchor broke loose. I tried several times to re-set it but it is just too small. We will go back to our original Fortress FX-16 chain and rode and it always holds well.
The Fortress FX-7 will get sold off with the chain and rode.

Chacala was as beautiful as ever and met some nice cruisers. The Super Bowl (Patriots vs Eagles - with Eagles winning) was televised while we were here although we did not watch it.
The Ocean Kayak Malibu Two did well for getting to shore and back. We also used it to set the stern anchor in-place and it worked out well. It is really stable and easy to launch and retrieve from the boat surf racks.
Debbie got her ankle skinned really bad at the dinghy landing. The dinghy landing at the little beach can be rocky at the higher tide. We were carrying the Ocean Kayak Malibu Two  over the rocks when we got going too fast down the slope and Debbie slipped.
Here in Chacala was the first time our
Starboard Whopper ASAP SUP was launched and paddled.
While at anchor in Chacala Debbie made a nice meal using the pressure cooker.
