Heading south - or Itinerary

Middle of November 2014 - Paradise Village Marina in Banderas Bay Mexico

This is what we have planned out but there will most likely be changes due to weather and other factors.
We are leaving today about 2:00 PM and hope to sail around Cape Cabo Corientes about 11:00 PM - 2:00 AM.

Some of these legs will be multiple overnights and others will be day sails.

Our first leg will be:

That’s an overnight-er. About 24 hours (91 nm). Getting around Cape Cabo Corientes safely is the man concern here. It can be quite nasty.

Chamela, which everyone calls the area.

It is actually Perula Bay and the town of Perula (Punta Pérula). The town of Chamela does not have a good anchorage.

We will anchor in Chamela bay (Bahía de Chamela) - Perula,is a small fishing village there.

Then off from Chamela to Bay of Tenacatita (29 nm) going inside the Island in Chamela bay

Bay of Tenacatita is a beautiful anchorage and we will venture across the bay into La Manzanilla

Melaque

We have already anchored here in Melaque and it has a beautiful view but we probably will choose the Bara Lagoon this time as it is just easier and we are dong a lot of traveling\sailing. This was a stern anchor spot as the swell wraps around. The dinghy landing can be good and can be not so good.

Barra-Bahia de Navidad is only around the "corner" at 14 nm.

Barra-Bahia de Navidad - 19.203°N 104.683°W

Barra-Bahia de Navidad in the Mexican state of Jalisco.

Then we go off to Manzanillo /Manzanillo Las Hadas  (25 nm) .

Manzanillo /Manzanillo Las Hadas - 19°3′N 104°19′W

Manzanillo /Manzanillo Las Hadas in the Mexican state of Colima

Then Manzanillo to Caleta de Campos (114 nm).

Caleta de Campos

Caleta de Campos:  We have heard this is a beautiful anchorage with a friendly town although we have also heard there has been some security problems so we may or may not stop?

Caleta de Campos to Zihuatanejo (75 nm) .

If we do not stop at Caleta de Campos then were looking at 3-4 days at sea.

Zihuatanejo Anchorage  in the Mexican state of Guerrero

Zihuatanejo Anchorage Here there is "Sail Fest" and "Guitar Fest" in the Spring.

Papanoa

Acapulco in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico

Acapulco in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico

Puerto Angel in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico

Punta Galera in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico

Puerto Escondido, in the state of OaxacaMexico.

We will probably stop here for rest. It is a good surf spot so there is a swell for a rolly anchorage. Anchoring is in 70+ feet of water. We will use all of our 300 ft of anchor rode :)

Puerto Angel in the state of OaxacaMexico

Hualtulco in the state of Oaxaca

Hualtulco in the state of Oaxaca, there is a marina here along with an anchorage with a few small bays for a choice of anchoring.
