Refurbishment of outboard motor lock - 2019

This is the finished lock and the loose tape is 😌, well, loose and will get cut off.
The tape is to help keep the rain water out over the summer.

August 2019 - s\v Elegant'sea is currently in Paradise Village Marina in Banderas Bay Mexico (by Puerto Vallarta) (We are currently house sitting in Chatsworth, CA)

Yes, it was time to sand, wire brush and paint the outboard motor lock we use when the Honda 9.9 hp outboard is mounted up on the boat. Every so many years it needs it as it does get rusty. It is steel. The one we use on the dinghy is stainless steel. This one we had to cut to fit the outboard mount .The tape is to keep water out of the lock as the cover attachment piece broke off..
This end is a custom cut-off we did years ago when we made the lock fit our new outboard motor mount on the stern.
The white lines attached to the top and bottom of the lock are tethers,
just in case we drop it while putting it on\off - we will still have itπŸ˜€

As you can see here the outboard motor lock for our Honda 9.9 hp outboard
is in need of some sanding, wire brushing and painting.

 Mostly done.

Wow, looks a lot better!!
