PTL town square on Saturday night and a hair cut - 2018

We went to Pitillal again and it was as fun as it always is!

We braved the green and white bus which took us on the "milk run", through all the outside neighborhoods. Not necessarily a good idea to just get off the bus there until you get to where you want to go. In this case, the town square. We usually take the blue and white bus which are the main road buses to the place you are going. Great tour on the green and white bus and for less than a buck!
When you get inland a mile or two or so you get away from the tourist areas and into where the locals live and play. It is good fun .

March 2018 - Currently in Marina Vallarta, Banderas Bay Mexico (Puerto Vallarta Jalisco)
We like PTL (abbreviation for the pronunciation of the neighborhood) as they have a great town square that always offers up good food and dancing and this time a carnival! The reason for the fiesta is to celebrate Benito Juarez Day (on Monday).
The Father was to the right on a 6 string guitar. The son in the middle with a 12 string guitar and the daughter was on the left with a bass guitar. Good guitar playing.
Kids playing one of the many games, this one the dart balloon game.
A week or two ago we saw two gringos and
this week Debbie saw a smattering of gringos but that's it.
This is not a tourist area. We have been on a tourist bus many years ago that stopped here to view the church during the day. We were on vacation and went to a time share presentation and got the bus tour. The tour was nice however the timeshare presentation was a big mistake and we have never done the time share thing again. They do make it tempting with free stuff but it's really not worth it.
Hair cut time.
The price here is 35 pesos which at today's exchange rate is $1.87 cents.
The prices around our marina "Marina Vallarta," which has lots and lots of gringos, is 140 pesos which is $7.48. So you can see getting away from tourist-ville is much more fun and of course a lot less in pesos.
Lots of fun watching all the goings on and some kids getting their hair cut. They also watched me as I am probably the only gringo ever in this shop.
Debbie translated for me and my hair
actually came out how I wanted it to. I did some hand signals😎
Here she is using a straight edge razor that takes razor angle-sided razor blades. Toilet paper is used as a towel. Good fun stuff!
The waiting line sits in plastic chairs out front.
There are about a half dozen chairs inside. I am standing to the left.  This is the "after" picture as I was able to get right in when we arrived!!
We started off with a yummy tamale each - "rojas"...poblano chili and cheese.
Then we had "papaelote" (baked potatoes cut up topped with corn, mayonnaise and sour cream).  There were other toppings too, i.e. potato chips, salsas, spices  Yum!
And then we HAD to have "helado" (ice cream) cones!
