Finally staked down the bolts that come out of the bottom of the traveler.
We removed the companion way hatch.
We used silicone and a paint stirrer with a piece of coat hanger taped to it. It worked great.
Replaced the companion way hatch.
Now we are ready to put back (screw in) the teak wood that holds the hatch in place. Well we need to sand it more so when we screw it in place and put in the teak plus and sand them it will be all the same shade of sand. So we will need to do it all at the same time. Sharpened the chisel and am ready, we just need the time.
