Had our Sampson hurricane lines spliced 2025

We had Sirgio of Dawn Rigging here in La Paz Mexico splice and whip our hurricane lines (three 25-foot lengths of 5/8" Sampson double braid).

March 2025 ⛵ Chip & Debbie 💑 curently in Marina de La Paz, ⛱️ La Paz BCS (Baja), Mexico 🇲🇽

We had Sirgio of Dawn Rigging here in La Paz Mexico splice and whip our hurricane lines (three 25-foot lengths of 5/8" Sampson double braid).
We had the stainless steel thimbles welded (by Sirgio, not Sirgio Galindo) closed to prevent them from spinning under load. The whipping by the thimble is an add measure to hold the splice tight and the one at the end of the splice is to keep the splice from pulling out. We then run a piece of 3/8 chain through the thimble and then through the cleat and bolt it closed with a stainless steel bolt and lock nut. Has worked goo for us. Especially here in La Paz Marina as there is a surge when the tide is running and Eespecially crazy when the moon is changing phases. These have worked good for us in Paradise Village Marina in Puerto Vallarta and other areas of surge.
