New stern step swedges and amsteel lines 2025

About two years ago one one two life lines that hold our stern steps when they are down and in the water broke. We stopped in Mazatlan on the way to the Sea of Cortez and had amsteel lines installed but they did not have a swedge machine.

March 2025 ⛵ Chip & Debbie 💑 curently in Marina de La Paz, ⛱️ La Paz BCS (Baja), Mexico 🇲🇽

We use our stern steps a lot so we did not want to put knots over the threads on the screws that hold the swedges on as they would eventually cut through the line. So in Mazatlan they did what the could and that was Weld ne stainless metal onto the existing swedge eye and then pound it closed on the amsteel lines.
Mazatlan done.
Mazatlan done.
Mazatlan done.
Fast forward to now and we noticed the swedges were starting to crack.
We had Dawn Rigging come by and they replaced the swedges with new ones and they have a swedge machine so the new white amsteel lines are on with new screws and nuts etc all nice and done right. Now Mazatlan did a nice job with what they had and it served us well but it was time to get it all done correctly with the right equipment, now our lines are white again also! Dawn Rigging did this on and off during the day.
Update:
Dawn Rigging came by to make some adjustments. Works great!
Our stern steps are out for a bit of rebuild.
