Our Beta 38 temperature guage stopped working on the enging control panel.
We have tried grounding the wire from the sensor to the block, the guage should peg out but does not.
March 2025 ⛵ Chip & Debbie 💑 in Marina de La Paz, ⛱️ La Paz BCS (Baja), Mexico 🇲🇽
We tried removing the plug on the back of the Guage and reconnected it on the electrical panel.
We started the motor and ran it for over 10 min and the gauge did not move. We felt the expansion tank and the antifreeze was hot. So that seems to me to say the thermostat is working and the antifreeze is moving.
We did the recommended test and it seems it is the gauge so we ordered a new one.
Sensor
Top is temperature guage.
The guage needs to match the sensor and our guage will sound an alarm and turn on an idiot light when it reaches the red spot. Which is nice if you are doing a multiple day and night sail. If you are motoring at night this is nice to have. We could try a work arround by replacing the guage and sensor but the simplest way is to replace the guage and keep it all Beata.
A friend is bringing it down from the states.
Update:
Debbie had to go into the lazarette to put the bolts on a cleat we removed for painting the area.
