Debbie unpickled our Spectra Ventura Watermaker 200T Deluxe! We are back making water again now that we are at anchor! This picture shows our settee unfolded (makes a double bed) so Debbie can get at the water maker. This is after we fixed a pre-filer problem.
November Fall 2020 - Anchored in Chamela (Perula)
Our pre-filter needed to come out and be replaced. The Spectra Ventura Watermaker 200T Deluxe was pickled and we are going to start using it after leaving the dock so it will be un-pickled once at anchor. However the filter housing would not come apart! It is also in a cramped space, as most things are on a sailboat😁 This we did at the dock in Paradise Village Marina. We had to remove the housing. That means remove the four screws holding it onto the housing that is thru-bolted to the bulkhead. Then remove the two 5\8 hoses that goes to it.
The top of the housing without the round threaded compartment on the bottom.
We tried everything we could think of the get the bottom loose from the top part but it would not budge - including heating it up.
Possibly with a Lisle 60200 Heavy Duty Strap Filter Wrench but we can not find one here or borrow one.
The fittings are 5\8 inch and are not a quality fitting. We have blogged about this before. Debbie heated up the fitting then stuck in a thru-hull plug to make it round while it cooled down.
Once that is done then we went go to the Paradise Village Marina aquatic rental shack on "A" dock. We know behind the shed there is a nice work bench with a vice!

So we marched down to "A" dock to the shed and put the filter housing in the vice. We have a nice pipe wrench we were able to get a grip on the top of the housing with. The bottom part we put in the vice. It took a lot of strength on my part to get it to start spinning off but it worked
Got it apart in the vice!
Debbie finishing up this project.
