The light automatically shuts off after a few seconds.
We can also move this to different areas of the boat to see what the temperature is there. Knowing what temperature it is outside is cool also. Now we have to turn on our electronics to see the temperature on top of the mast. This will eliminate the need to do that.

We did try the AcuRite Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer with Humidity Sensor but it does not have an alarm and the outside sensor stopped working. Not recommended. The outdoor sensor used up batteries and then broke after about 6 mo of use. - 2019
