We are going to use the new rubber we purchased back in 2019.
Cannot believe we are just now getting to this project...guess we have time.
I don't think it is the rubber at fault - it was me who put it in wrong. I think I tried to make it stretch to fit so it leaks. Fortunately Downwind Marine still has new rubber. This hatch and the head hatch only leak in a heavy downpour. When we get heavy rain we cover the hatches.
January 2021 - Anchored in Bahia
de Navidad Lagoon
We have four Bomar - Pompanette llc Hatchs which are about 20x20 and heavy aluminum ocean going hatches.
This is the trash bag Debbie used to cover the hatch so the old material didn't fall onto the stateroom bunk. It got blown out from the air flow in the boat.
Debbie is removing the rubber from the top part of the hatch. A messy and labor intensive job. However it is done while siting at anchor in paradise!
This section looks like we tried to patch an area that was leaking.
Wow, all the old hatch rubber has been removed!!
Now the old glue will get removed in the channel in order to put the new rubber in.
