Ford Ka - not starting - 2014

 Yes, it's a beautiful day!!
We were going to go to Mega (grocery store) today so tried to start the car - it wouldn't.
All the rain we had was the problem as it rained, it rained for the last week or so and it did run before the rain, at least kid of and we drove it! So, we blew off Mega and went to the La Cruz "mecanico" instead - Moses.
Beginning of January 2014 - La Cruz anchorage in Banderas Bay, Puerto Vallarta Mexico

He spoke very good English and was willing to come to the marina where the car is parked "in an hour".  So, we made our way back and sure enough, he was there in 70 minutes!  His "diagnosis" - a bad coil.  So, we had him replace that and the spark plugs, and spark plug wires.  He said he would do it right where it was parked!  We had to go to the banco in Bucerias to get dinero (y comida) and he called saying it was finished as we were waiting for the bus back.  He showed us the fowled plugs and said we needed to keep an eye on them, so this doesn't happen again.  The Ka does burn oil, so you know it is matter of time before the plugs start getting fouled again. We will keep a spare set gapped and clean for next time. The coil was the part we would not have figured out easily. So, when the Ka starts running a little rough, we swap out the plugs. We get whiplash now with the Ka running on all four of its mighty 1300 cc cylinders :) or we can at least make it up hills now in forth not third gear. And hay it is 10 years newer (it is a 2001) than the Jeep we sold for the dinghy when I retired and sailed from San Diego! After a shower at the marina (took advantage of an open door for a seminar) and a visit to the local aberrate, we headed back over to his shop to drop off the flat spare tire for him to repair or replace.

So, the saga continues!  We meet with Alfredo next Tuesday to try to get the car registered.  Then we got a doctor's appointment with the specialist for next Thursday!  Things are moving along! We did find another different set of plates under the spare tire so....?
