Ford Ka now legal in our name 2014

Beginning of January 2014 - La Cruz Anchorage in, Banderas Bay Mexico

We are legal, car wise. It took two days, a total of about seven hours to get our Ford Ka car paid up with registration fees and taxes etc. This cost about 5,600 pesos which is about $428.00 USD.

This included four or so years of back registration as we did not have the paperwork for those years and this current year 2014. We would have had to do this anyway if we bought a car so it was really a couple hundred USD more than for a normal registration. We got the car for FREE so no big deal.
The "Office of Transito yTransporta" is located in San Vincente, a town we had never been in before.  Alfredo directed us through Mezcales then through a couple of towns inland from there.  San Juan and La Mision are there too.  The office was in a "shopping" center that had a grocery store, restaurants, an appliance store (see below) and of course, an OXXO (a convenience store common in Mexico).
Me and Alfredo waiting for inspection of the car. We left the rosary beads
on the mirror to look like locals :)
Part of the process was having the inspector look up the VIN numbers of the
car and having them validated as not stolen or in an accident.
Cars before us.
While waiting, I cleaned up the Ka.
Inspector getting VIN numbers.
Calling in our numbers.
Alfredo talking to inspector.
Inspection done, now for another day to finish up the process.
Alfredo also works at Philo's bar for the last dozen years. Also he is
getting his Masters in Marine Biology.
After a few more hours we got the Ka car registration on the next day.
 The title to our car.
Our new license plates!
New front plate.
Our new back plate.
We both also got our Mexican Chauffeur's driver's licenses for 585 pesos $44.00 USD each.
So we are rolling legal style in Mexico. Surprise, surprise!
We stopped to get another key made for the Ka car but the price was too steep at this time.
Me after finding out the price for the new Ka car key!
On a side note:
By the Mexican DMV (for lack of the proper name) there was a place that sold appliances and motor cycles. It had these motor cycles with trailers on them. We see them all over selling food etc.
Notice the handle on the trailer as this one is a dump trailer.
Has a regular foot brake and a mail box on the trailer.
Debbie.
Notice in the store window some round washing machines.
